Well tonight Sammy started crawling. He was going after my cell phone (he likes electronics.. hmm wonder where he gets that from). So we got a quick video of him crawling over to Tim and I to get at the cell phones on the floor.

Trip to Hendersonville

On Tuesday night we left for Hendersonville for a mini vacation. We got in to Karla's around 12 am Wednesday morning and chatted for a few hours before going to bed.
Wednesday Karla and I drove up to Ashville to get our nails done. We enjoyed some girl time while Tim hung out with Sammy at Karla's. We had fun cooking many different meals while we were visiting.

Thursday we hung out and chatted and sat with the doors and windows open the weather was amazing down there! Friday Tim, Sammy and I went and toured the Biltmore (a Christmas present from my parents, Thanks Mom and Dad). You can check out more pictures of the outside and the driveway to the house here.

Saturday Sammy learned to sit himself up on his own. You can check out the pictures in the link below. We left Saturday mid-day due to the weather (ice) that was due through the Smoky Mountains and the Shenandoah Valley. You can check out more pictures that Karla took here.

Thanks for the amazing trip, food and conversation Karla!! We miss you already!

Busy weekend

This weekend we were busy but had a lot of fun! Friday was my nephew's first birthday, Sammy and I went over and hung out with Clare and Bradley. The boys played and Clare got some stuff ready for the party she was having on Saturday.

Saturday we went to Bradley's party. We had a lot of fun hanging out with my parents and some of Clare and Chris' friends. Bradley got some really nice presents from his friends and relatives. We got Bradley a stuffed chocolate lab and some books. He was already having fun turning the pages on his new bible we got him. Clare made him the cake for his birthday. We all thought it was delicious.. Bradley didn't want any part of it.. he must get that from Clare ;-)!

Sunday we went to Tim's parents church to watch their kids Christmas play. Lanicia had a couple of solos in the play and did very well! We then went and hung out with his family for a while. When we got home we cleaned out the garage and reorganized and swept it out. Since Sammy started pulling up on things we decided we needed to lower his crib. So we also got that accomplished this weekend as well.

Steph's Visit

Last weekend my good friend Steph came for a visit. She has been working on a project in North Carolina since April and has been driving back and forth to Northern Virginia. So last weekend she made a pit stop on the way back to North Carolina.

Sammy had fun hanging out with Steph and Tim and I had a blast catching up with her! Hopefully we will get to see her again soon.. hint hint ;-)

Our First "Snow"

Yesterday we had our first snow. Sammy went out in his big winter bunting outfit and loved the cold air on his face and Tipsy running around like a young puppy!

I love the snow because of its beauty and all the fun that can be had in the snow.. However, there is one thing I don't like about the snow..

Wet dogs!!

You can check out some other snow pictures here!

Pulling Up!

Well last night Sammy started pulling up on me and anything that he could get his hands on. He still is not crawling (which I am completely fine with) but still very mobile. He crawls pushes and pulls himself around the house.

He was very pleased with himself as you can see in this picture:

Tuesday, December 4, 2007

So I realized I was a little behind on the blog. Well Sammy is becoming more mobile, still not crawling but rolling and pulling and scooting and pushing and doing whatever he can to get where he wants to go.

Tim, Sammy and I went to my parents for Thanksgiving day. It was very nice had a wonderful meal. We ate early which was nice. Then since it was warm out we went for a boat ride. It did rain a little while we were on the boat but still a bunch of fun. Sammy had a ton of fun playing with Gigi and Pop Pop.

Black Friday we had Tim's family (almost the whole family.. we were missing Becca and John) over for Thanksgiving dinner #2. We did the turkey, stuffing and gravy and
Reatha, Rachel and Grandma (Tim's mom) prepared the other dishes. We hung out and played board games and our Nintendo Wii. Then we also went for a walk through the neighborhood but it was most definitely colder than Thursday.

You can check out more photos here.

Getting Ready for Christmas

Well we are pretty much ready for Christmas at our house. We have the house decorated. Most of the shopping done (still got to get a few presents though). Sammy has been looking at the tree but seems more interested in the presents underneath it so far.
You can check out more Christmas photos here!

Trip to the pumpkin patch

The pumpkin we picked for the house

Can you find our pumpkin?

Sammy pushed our pumpkin back in the wheelbarrow (just kidding)

Sitting on the Gourds

We just got back from the pumpkin patch about 4 miles from our house. We had so much fun picking out a pumpkin with Sammy. While we were there, Sammy hit another milestone. A few weeks ago, he started sitting up for a while unsupported. Well now he is standing and holding on to things. It never ceases to amaze Tim and I how fast Sammy is growing up. Here are a few pictures from the pumpkin patch. Feel free to check out some other pictures here.

Chilly Chili Fest

Aaron and his son Drew, Lindsay and Sammy

Yesterday our church had the 4th annual Chilly Chili Fest. Our friends Brandon and Ann had the event at their house. We had a campfire, pumpkin carving, seed spitting contest and of course a Chili competition. There were 14 different pots of chili numbered for the competition. Each person received 5 kidney beans to place their vote(s) on their favorite bowl(s) of chili. The kids also had a costume parade through all of the other guests.

Sammy dressed up as Tigger and so did 2 other babies. They were all so cute!! You can check out some more pictures here. Also if you would like some 2nd place chili let me know and you can come over for dinner sometime ;-) hehe

Sammy's Dedication

Yesterday we dedicated Sammy at church. It was so nice to have family and friends there for the event. After the service, we had everyone over for lunch. It was so much fun having a full house of people eating, talking and just hanging out.

We received a nice gift from the church and lots of very cute gifts from friends and family. My parents got Sammy a Willow Tree figurine of a boy with a heart of gold and also a Christmas tree decoration with his birth information on it. Aunt Reatha got Sammy a book with a rattle built in. Aunt Rachel got him a Christmas tree decoration with Samuel written on it.

We wanted to thank everyone that came out to celebrate with us, including the Colmans, the Mehegans, the Stengers, the Whitcombs, and the Winns.

I will put up some pictures of everything when I get them from different family members.

Splish Splash in the tub

On Sunday night Sammy started splashing in his tub for the first time. Water got everyone but it was really fun to see him learn this new "skill."

We are thinking about moving him to the bigger tub. So we dont soak the kitchen with every bath.

Here is a quick video of some of the splashing.

Beach update (a little late)

We headed down to North Myrtle Beach, SC on September 1st. It was an 7 hour drive.. we were ready to get out of the car when we got there. Sammy did great on the trip. We left really early in the morning and he slept most of the way there.

We had fun playing on the beach with Karla, Trevor, Kendra, Asher, Olivia and Kyrie. Sammy got to play in the waves, sand and the pool.

While we were at the beach my grandfather passed away. So we drove home a few days early exchanged beach clothes for funeral clothes and drove to the North East corner of PA (a 5.5 hour trip). We were in 6 states in 2 days and in the car for 18 hours in 3 days. That was the toughest part. Sammy was pretty sick of his car seat after that long of a stretch.

Sammy did great through the viewing, funeral, burial, and the meal afterwards. My Dad's side of the family loved meeting Sammy and his cousin Bradley. We hope to make another trip up to that area in the fall and stay longer than one night :-P

There are some pictures from the beach here:

I will have more beach photos when Karla sends me a DVD with some more pictures on it.. (hint hint Karla LOL)!

Its been a while

Well its been a while since we have posted. Things have been pretty crazy around here. We are doing pretty well. Sammy went to the doctor on Tuesday for his 4 month checkup and shots. He was 14 lbs 4 ounces and 25 inches long. They gave us the go ahead on starting solids since he was eating a whooping 32 ounces in a day.

We gave that a try last night and I am not sure Sammy really knew what to do...
We are getting geared up to head to North Myrtle Beach for a week. We leave on Saturday and get back the next Saturday after that. We will be sure to take lots of pictures and stay in the shade ;-).

Here are a some of my favorite pictures of Sammy over the last few weeks. You can check out the rest here:

Rolling over

On Tuesday night Sammy rolled from his back to his tummy. He did it 3 or 4 times that day. On Thursday I was able to catch it on the video camera (well the video camera on the digital camera so its not real high quality).

Here is a link:

Sorry it bounces a around some. At the end of the video you can see what happens when Sammy is on his tummy :-P. I am not sure where he gets that temper from hehe.

Redskins Season

Sammy told me the other day he was ready for the Redskins season to begin. So we let him support his favorite team:

Grabing Toes

On Monday night Sammy had another first.. he grabbed his toes for the first time.

He is now a little over 3 months old. Here are some random pictures of him since he turned 3 months.

Thursday, July 19, 2007

This past Saturday we had some friends stop by the house. My friend Samantha and her boyfriend Patrick stopped by for lunch. We played a game of Mexican Train (its a domino game). They also got to play with Sammy. Here is a picture of Sam and Sammy:

Then a little while later another Kelly and her husband Chris stopped by to visit. They gave Sammy a really cute outfit from the Baby Gap. Here is Kelly and Chris holding Sammy.

Play Dates

Sammy had a friend over for a "play date" last week. Sammy loves to watch Daniel crawl around the house and play with toys. Nell-Marie and I got them to sit still for a minute on the couch so we could take a picture of them.

Thanks Grandma!

Last night we went for a walk in the jogging stroller my mom got us from a 2nd hand store. Sammy had a blast! Can you tell?

Father's Day Weekend

Proud Daddy

I realized that I never blogged about Sammy's first dip in the lake! Well on Father's Day weekend we went down to the lake to celebrate. My mom took some pictures for us of Sammy's first "swim" in lake Monticello.

I thought I would share a few:
Chris, Clare, Bradley, my Dad, my Mom, Tim, me, and Sammy on the dock

Grandpa holding his two grandsons

Bradley and Sammy in their boats

Sammy and Daddy Swimming

Here are the rest of the pictures.

Birth Announcements

Well I am a little behind on this since Sammy is almost 3 months old but I am in the process of working on them. The first part of that process was a Sammy photo shoot. Tim and I took these photos on our sofa when Sammy was about 9 weeks old.

(that last photo is not trick he is actually standing, he is leaning against the sofa but he is holding his own weight)

You can check out the other photos here.

Hammy Sammy

Sammy has been smiling for a while now however they are becoming easier to get out of him. He has really started to ham it up for the camera.

I hope that Sammy continues to be a happy smiley baby makes play time so much fun!

Fourth of July

Mommy and Sammy at the Lake

We went to to the lake to celebrate the 4th of July. My parents had a few other guests over as well, my great aunt Lydia was there, my mom's cousin Debbie, her husband and a few of her relatives, my aunt Annmarie, my cousin Kristine, Clare, Chris, and Bradley.

Aunt Lydia holding Sammy

We did not stay for the fireworks since I was feeling sick. However, before that I did go for my first dip in the lake of the year. I swam out to join my Mom and aunt Annmarie on paradise island.

You can check out a few more pictures here.

Feeling better

Well I think I am finally on the mends *knocks on wood*. Last week I went to see my doctor for a UTI and he informed me that I had elevated amounts of bilirubin in my urine. He ordered some blood work on Thursday. Friday evening he called me to tell me that my liver function was high (bad) and to go meet the surgeon at the hospital. They rechecked my bilirubin level and it had increased significantly and my liver function was up even more. They admitted me that night to determine if I was leaking from a duct from my gallbladder surgery or if I had gall stones in my common bile duct.

Saturday morning my levels were about the same, so they determine that it must be gall stones. I had a procedure called an ERCP done to remove the stones. They put a camera and other tools down your throat to enlarge the opening of the bile ducts to remove the stones. After reviewing the films they saw that I had 4 gall stones that were stuck in my common bile duct. I stayed Saturday night to be monitored for pancreatitis. Then I had to take it easy on Monday and watch for that as well.

I am feeling SO much better now and have been able to eat normal foods again and take care of Sammy. I have pictures of the gall stones (internal from the camera they used) if you would like to see them ;-).

Thanks for all of the prayers!

Gallbladder Surgery Rescheduled

I have had a few mild gall badder attacks since last Wednesday. So I called the surgeons office today to find out if they could schedule my surgery any sooner. They actually had one opening between now and then and that is Tuesday the 26th of June.

I go to the hospital tomorrow to preregister. Then we will know when the surgery is scheduled and what time to arrive at the hospital.

Gallbladder Surgery Schedule

I went and saw the surgeon again today and we got my surgery scheduled. I will be having surgery on Friday July 13th (yes, Friday the 13th). It should be a 5-10 days recovery as long as the surgeon can do it laparoscopically.

So for the next month I just have to continue to eat a very low fat diet. Hopefully I continue to not have any gallbladder attacks on this restricted diet.

He's smiling at you!

Sammy smiling (sorry its blurry had to snap quick)

Sammy is 6 weeks as of last Wednesday. In the morning he had some tummy time. He was working his arms and legs and all of a sudden he rolled over. It was really neat to be there and watch him do that. On Saturday morning Tim was playing with him on the floor and he did it again. He rolled from his stomach to his back.

I had to take Sammy to the pediatrician on Tuesday for his baby acne because it was on his chest. He weighed in at 10 lbs 4 oz. So on Wednesday he would have gained exactly 2 lbs.

Here is our little baseball player

You can check out more pictures here.

Our Anniversary!

Two years ago today Tim and I got married. Tim surprised me with flowers and a card this morning. This was my present to Tim:

The first song on the montage Tim wrote for me our first Christmas. The second song is the song we danced to at the wedding.

Sammy's First Smile

Yesterday afternoon Sammy made his first social smile to me. It was very exciting. He only did it once and I could not get him to do it again. This morning he was very interactive and awake so I thought I would try it again. I got a couple of smiles out of him so I figured I would try and get one on camera.

I either got the beginning or ending of a smile but I thought I would share a few of the pictures.

There are a few other pictures of Sammy on the web album from weeks 4 and 5. Here is a link.

Gallbladder Update

We meet with the surgeon on Friday that is going to remove my gallbladder. The doctor wants to wait until my c-section infection is completely healed up. He is going to be on vacation for 2 weeks so I go see him again on June 13th. Hopefully by then the c-section will be healed up and we can schedule my surgery.

Until then I am eating very little to no fat so that I do not have another gallbladder attack.

Gallbladder Surgery

Well after several trips to the Emergency Room, doctors office, and hospital for various tests the doctors have determined that Lindsay needs to have her gallbladder removed. We meet with the surgeon on Friday (25th) to discuss the procedure and to schedule a time.

We will update the blog on Friday with more details about when and all of that stuff.

Update on Sammy

I had a follow-up appointment at the pediatrician yesterday to get the results of the culture taken from Sammy. They found that it was not an infection he was just having a reaction to my hormones and it was just milk in his breasts. They said this will go away in a few months.

When we were there they weighed Sammy and he weighed in at 9lbs even. He gained 4 ounces in 2 days! He must be getting ready for a growth spurt.

Sammy's First Two Weeks

Well Sammy is almost 3 weeks old (on Wednesday) he is growing like a weed. I took him to the pediatrician today and he is weighing in at 8 lbs 12 oz. He has gained 7 oz. in the 7 days so he is right on schedule.

Sammy has a small infection that he has to take antibiotics for the next 10 days. We follow up with the pediatrician on Wednesday to see how the infection is doing.

We have uploaded a few pictures from the past 2 weeks, mother's day weekend, and Lanicia's soccer game.

Hey Everyone,

My name is Samuel. My parents are going to call me Sammy. I was born on April 25, 2007 at 10:25 P.M. I weighed in at 8 lbs and 5oz and was 18-3/4 inches long.

My parents and I are doing well, and I'm happy to be here in this big new world (well at least most of the time).

I made it home from the hospital today and I am doing pretty well. I go see my pediatrician tomorrow because I have a small case of jaundice.
