Pizza Topping Ideas

Tim and I have turned our Friday nights into Pizza Nights. I have found a good dough recipe for the bread machine and I am working on a good recipe for the pizza sauce. However, I am stuck on some ideas for toppings. Here are a few we have done or thought of:
1. Pepperoni
2. Hamburger
3. Ham (or Ham and pineapple)
4. BBQ chicken

So folks what are some other pizza toppings that you like?

sardines and mushrooms are not options

I will post soon with the pizza dough recipe and pizza sauce recipe that I use.

Name that Rash

Warning rash pictures to follow :-P

Sunday afternoon Tim had a fever and had the flu aches. Monday morning he felt okay we carpooled into work. Around 10 he told me he felt lousy again and needed to go home. We left at lunch time. He slept a ton the rest of the day. Tuesday he felt much better. We went to work stayed the whole day. We stopped at Target on the way to pick Sammy up, he started itching. He lifted up his shirt to find:

We watched it spread down his arms and onto his hands in about 30 minutes. We talked to a few people about what it might be. Tim's mom said measles. Other people said some sort of viral infection.

Wednesday got in to see the doctor at 9:30 he said hmmm well it looks like it might have been the tail end of the measles. Tim had one MMR shot but it was a while ago and those shots wear off after a while. They drew some blood to figure out if it was actually the measles.

He is feeling much better today, still resting and getting lots of fluids to help flush out whatever it might be.

Until the blood work comes back he is in quarantine. The measles are contagious for up to 4 days after the rash disappears.

Another Meme :-)

I have been tagged by my big sis Clare to do this meme:

Favorite person (outside of family): Jesus ;-)

Favorite food? With out a shadow of a doubt mashed potatoes with gravy.. My second favorite is mashed potatoes with salt and pepper LOL

Quirks about you? Hmm I'm fairly quirky.. lets see... just to list a few:
1. I must clean my ears at least once a day w/ a q-tip
2. The car wipers must be turned off before turning the car off (it drives me nuts if they are in the middle of the windshield)
3. I must pre-wash all my dishes before I can put them in the dishwasher (Thanks Dad)

How would the person who loves you the most describe you in ten words or less? Tim said, "funny, driven, beautiful, excellent mother and wife"

Any regrets in life? No, I think all things happen for a reason.. but at times I wish I made different decisions but then I wouldn't have learned from them.

Favorite charity or cause? St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Favorite blog recently? Hmm I have a ton of blogs in my google reader.. I would say lately my favorites have been:
Rocks In My Dryer

Like Merchant Ships

Something you cannot get enough of? water! I like to drink it, but I LOVE to swim in it and play in it. I love swimming with Sammy and building his love for the water as well!

Worst job you ever had? I have been fortunate enough to have all IT jobs since I started working at age 16.. but of those the worst would be the job I got right out of college. The company was great, but I was working on live systems and it could be very stressful and we had some pretty nasty customers.

What job would you pay NOT to have? clean the house.. especially toilets :-)

If you could be a fly on the wall, where? The softball fields at the Olympic Games this summer. I would love to hear whats being said in the dugouts and and to watch all of the games!

Guilty pleasure? Grey's Anatomy and American Gladiator. American Gladiator has been a staple in my life. Whenever we moved my dad would say, "moving makes you stronger." One time I replied back ,"Then I am going to be so strong I could be an American Gladiator!" It was the ongoing joke in the family. When I applied to colleges my college entrance essay was about becoming an American Gladiator. So needless to say I was excited when they brought the show back!

Got any confessions? I sometimes have a hard time not laughing when Sammy cries... He looks so cute even then and it gives me a case of the giggles. Plus if I didnt laugh I might join him!

If you had to spend $1000 on yourself, how would you spend it? hmm thats a tough one, I would say most likely on a physical trainer to help me get back in-shape.

Favorite thing about your house? I really love the house that Tim and I live in! I would say my favorite part is the fact that it doesn't have any stairs. I love the ranch style houses and its really convenient with an infant. You dont have to go upstairs to change diapers, or get an outfit or anything like that. There is also no stair temptations for a toddler so we have no need for baby gates in our house.

Least favorite thing about your house? The carpet in the main living space. It is the builder carpet from when the house was built in 2001. Tim and I have been saving up some money to get it replaced with something we like and isn't all snagged and worn.

One thing you are bad at? Grammar and spelling! I never learned them very well in school. All through college my Dad and Tim proofread all my papers. I am sure most of the blog readers already knew that from reading my posts.

One thing you are good at? Math, I love doing math problems and running numbers etc. When I was younger I would make up long division problems while I was waiting for food at restaurant.

If you could change one thing about your circumstances, what? That Harrisonburg doesn't have a lot of fun things to do downtown. When we went to Greenville we had so much fun hanging out downtown and at the parks. Tim and I really enjoyed that aspect of it and wished we had more things like that here.

Who would you like to meet someday? The Google founders.. yes, I am a nerd!

What makes you feel sexy? A nice skirt and shoes.

Who is your real life hero? Anyone that overcomes a lot of adversity like cancer survivors, or people that lived through a natural disaster.

What is the hardest part of your job? Trying to feed Sammy a healthy diet and not giving into him wanting to eat junk food.

When are you most relaxed? On the weekends when Tim and I can just relax around the house.

What stresses you out? Sammy throwing a fit in a store or restaurants.

What can you not live without? The internet! I am so addicted its not even funny!

Do you agree with the recent article that blogs are authored by narcissists? I think the person that wrote the article is a narcissist ;-)

Why do you blog? To keep track of the things that have happened in our lives and to keep friends and family updated.

Who are you tagging?
New/newer bloggers- Cheryl
Bloggy friends-Karla
Bloggers you'd like to get to know better- Jolanthe

1. Answer the questions.
2. Link back to who tagged you.
3. Tag 8 bloggers in the above categories to do the same.

So I totally didnt follow the rules for this one.. but wanted to leave people for others to tag :-)

Our Trip to Greenville

(My favorite picture from the weekend)

For Tim's birthyday (May 10th) I surprised him with a weekend away. Lanicia, Tim, Sammy and I went down to stay with Karla in Greenville. We left Thursday night and got to Karla's around midnight. We hit some pretty bad rain on the way down but that didn't affect us to much.

Friday we meet one of my friends Wendy and her son Carson. We meet at a park just near downtown Greenville. Carson is about a week older than Sammy. So they had fun playing in the sand and eating snacks. We went out to eat a little resauraunt called McCalisters. Their food was delicious!

When Karla got off work we went out to dinner at a place called Stax. We got Tim a birthday cake in their bakery and ate that a little later.
That night we went to the pool in the complex where Karla is temporarily renting. The outdoor pool was open because it had been so warm down there. It was 95 degrees on Friday.

Saturday was Tim's actual birthday. So he opened some presents and then we got read and went to the zoo.

Sammy had a lot of fun pointing at the animals. He would ask "That?" Or he called it a dog. The Greenville Zoo is really nice with lots of benches, shade, and even a toddler playground in the middle.

While we were at the zoo we meet up with Karla's sister, brother-in-law, niece and nephew. After the zoo we walked around downtown and ate lunch. We had fun taking some fun pictures of the bronze mice they have around downtown and all of the fountains and statues. Downtown Greenville was really nice, clean, and beautiful.

We went back to the house and Sammy took a nap. We then went swimming in the pool and got changed to go out to the park in Downtown Greenville. There is a river that runs right through downtown Greenville. The falls on the river are really beautiful. You can wade and play in the river. Or sit on the banks and have a picnic. We picked up some Mellow Mushroom pizza and hung out and watch Nicia play in the water. Sammy also got in on the action as well. One of the cool things about the river is it has a curved suspension bridge to cross over it. The bridge is beautiful and the fact that it crosses over the waterfalls was really neat! We went and got ice cream for dessert and then did some shopping.

The last surprise I had for Tim was that his sister drove up 2 hours from Atlanta to hang out and see everyone and to give Sammy his first haircut! He looks like a little boy now. We are so glad that Becca was able to do the first hair cut for us :)

Sunday afternoon the girls (Becca, Karla, Nicia and I) went shopping. We all pitched in and got Nicia some fun summer clothes since she had grown so much since last summer.

We then hung out before we left around 7:30pm and got back home around 1:30 am. We had a lot of fun but it was a busy weekend and we are still trying to catch up on sleep :-PHere is a slide show of the rest of the pictures:

1st Year Stats

Sammy ate his first egg salad sandwich and used the mayo for hair gel

I realized in Sammy's birthday post I forgot to put his birthday stats in. He weighed in at 20 lbs even, that is the 10% for his weight (meaning 90% of 1 year old boys weigh more than him). He was 29" which is the 25% (meaning 75% of kids are taller than him). His head was 18 3/4" which was the 50%.

Sammy did pretty good with his shots and finger prick. His iron count was a little low so we need to try and come up with some iron fortified cereal that he likes.

We had a crazy long weekend for Tim's birthday I will be posting about that soon :-)

Sammy and the sandbox

My parents gave Sammy a sandbox that has a water section so you can make sand castles and play in the water. Sammy thinks it is great! He loves to be outside and this is a great outdoor toy!

Sammy wanted to send this to GiGi and GrandPat!

Sammy's First Birthday

Sammy turned 1 on Friday the 25th. Nicia and I made cupcakes for him. At first he didn't know what to think:

Then he realized the cupcake was yummy.. that might have been after I shoved some in his mouth :-P

Saturday we had Sammy's birthday party. We had some family and friends come over to celebrate his birthday with us. Here are a few highlights of the party:
