Insert Creative Christmas Eve Title

We had a really great Christmas Eve. We drove over to my parents house to celebrate over there and eat a delicious Christmas dinner that my mom had prepared!

So here are a few fun pictures from our Christmas Eve. This is our tree with all of the presents we were giving underneath it:

We stopped at the scenic overlook on the way over the mountain. It was beautiful up there with all of the snow:

I love stopping at this overlook at all the different season!

When we got to my parents house my Dad had something special setup for the boys! Sammy LOVED playing with this train.

One of my sister's friends makes toddler bath towels. Clare got Sammy a dog towel just like our dog last year. This year Sammy got this super cute shark!

We got Clare some silky hands lotion from Mary Kay. I love that stuff!

Sammy loved his big present from my parents. He got a duplo train set:

Here he is opening his special ornament from Aunt Clare and Uncle Chris. Each year we pick out an ornament for the boys that match an interest of theirs. Clare got him a Lighting McQueen ornament. Sammy loved putting this one on our tree.

I got a new purse from my parents:

Bradley and Sammy had a lot of fun helping everyone open presents. Here they are helping my Mom open her present fro my Dad.

My Dad got a telescope for Christmas. The boys helped him open this as well:

Waiting for dinner to be ready:

After dinner we drove home and got ready for Santa to come. We read Twas the night before Christmas before bed:

More Christmas posts to come soon!

2010 Goals

So I don't think I have ever set new year's resolutions. However, this year I have some "goals" for myself. Things that I would like to accomplish in the next 365 days :-). So on the last day of 2009 I leave you with my 5 goals for next year:

1. Continue to grow stronger in my relationship with the God
2. Continue to get healthy with exercise and eating healthy
3. Invest in the relationships of my family and friends
4. Learn a new skill (sewing, knitting, etc.)
5. Read 2 books a month

Do you have any goals/resolutions for next year? Don't worry Christmas posts coming soon :-)

Gingerbread Train

With all of the snow we got over the weekend we had a lot of free time on our hands! Here is our little gingerbread train and supplies:

Last year the candy went all over the table when I opened the containers! So this year I planned ahead. I also added a few more pieces of candy that were easy for Sammy to eat:

Sammy loved putting the candy on the train! Then licking the icing off his fingers. So if you come over to our house don't eat any candy off the gingerbread train:

Tasting some of the icing and candy:
The finished product:

Isn't it beautiful ;-)

There was a little whole in the back of the plastic holder. Sammy thought he should put the extra candy in there:

I can't believe Christmas is almost here!! Most of my posts were scheduled for this week so I could enjoy the time with my family. But don't worry I will still be stopping by to see all of you guys!

So we got slammed with snow this weekend. It started snowing on Friday around 5pm and didn't stop until Saturday around 9pm. We got over 2 feet of snow. That's the most snow we have gotten since the mid 90's.

Sammy didn't enjoy this snow as much as the last one but he did go out for a little bit. In this picture he is not even standing on the ground:

We did a whole lot of this:

Tipsy had a blast... she bounced through the snow like tigger! We through the Frisbee for her and she thought she was in heaven! Well until she came in and had mats of snow stuck in her fur. She laid on a towel until she melted all of the snow off.

Sammy attempting to walk.. he then would start yelling stuck at the top of his lungs :-P

Want to eat dinner outside:

This guy cross country skied up a few roads:

Fall into Reading 2009 - Wrap-Up

Well since we got over 2 feet of snow on Friday/Saturday it certainly feels like "Fall" is over! I wanted to write my Fall into Reading 2009 Wrap up post!

Here are the books I finished this fall:
  1. The New Dare to Discipline by James Dobson - Loved this book! I feel like I am way more equipped for raising and disciplining Sammy.
  2. Just Do It by Douglas Brown - We got about half the way through this book and we decided we didn't like it and called it quits.
  3. Finger Lickin' Fifteen by Janet Evanovich - Loved this book just like all of the Stephanie Plum series.
  4. Big Fish by Daniel Wallace - This was just plain weird book!
  5. Girls in Peril by Karen Lee Boren - Also a pretty odd book but I did enjoy it
  6. Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult - LOVED this book! I really have liked all of her books that I have read. I need to read a few more.. maybe one of these would get me back into reading!
Books I didn't finish:
  1. The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger - I got stuck on this book and had to put it down. This is the book that I kinda fell off the reading bandwagon on.
  2. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho - didn't even get to start this one.
  3. The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown - I am about a quarter of the way through this book. I hope I can finish it soon.
  4. Atonement by Ian McEwan - I didn't start this one either!
On going:
  1. Discovering the Treasures of a Godly Woman: Proverbs 31 by Elizabeth George - My biblestudy is still working our way through this book. I am loving what I am learning about this amazing woman.
  2. Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis - I haven't even started this book. Its for our book club but we haven't selected a day to have it done by :-P
  3. Continuing to read through the bible in a year - ahem.. well maybe this should be a new year's goal :-)
So I didn't finish my list.. I think this is the first time this has happened.. I just got into a reading funk.. I want to read but I haven't been making the time for it. Hopefully things will slow down some and I can start reading again soon!

Tot School - Dec 20th - Letter E and Christmas Crafts

Tot School
Sammy is 31 months

Some letter E crafts:

This was inspired by No Time for Flashcards Letter E.

My own creation. The eggplant E :-)

Which turned into rolling pom poms into a bucket off his head :-)

Flap number line:
This was part of a candy cane box. Sammy is into counting. So I got some stickers out for him to match the numbers and practice counting.

Once Sammy put stickers in all of the boxes we compared the sizes of the different animals. Sammy really liked this activity.

Christmas Crafts:

We colored some pages. (I did the one on the left).

We made reindeer. I remember doing a similar craft when I was a kid so we had to make one :-).

We painted a stocking:

We painted a candy cane:
Sorry didn't get a finished product picture of the candy cane.

Decorating the Christmas trees:

We decorated a gingerbread train:

We got over 2 feet of snow on Friday/Saturday. We tried to go out and play but it was a little too deep. He wasn't even standing on the ground in this picture:
