Tubes - Check

Well Sammy had his tubes in on Wednesday. He was such a trooper! He is noticing more noises than he use to. His speech is already a good bit clearer. He hasn't tried any new words yet.. but I think that will be coming soon.

He has been experimenting with different sounds and noises. So needless to say things have been loud around here!

Just getting to the hospital.. its 6:00 am

Playing in the toy room before the surgery. He loved the kitchen.. wasn't crazy about his dress ;-)

Post-op.. a little sad since he woke up and Mommy and Daddy weren't there. What was he staring so intently at? See the next picture

Watching Cars on the portable DVD player.
Sammy got to take his "buddy" with him to surgery. It is a little dog head and arms the "body" is just a blanket. He also brought his special blanket that GiGi made for him. Monkeys and bananas. Not long after these photos he started jumping and climbing all over the bed.

What's On Your Nightstand

What's On Your Nightstand
I haven't had much chance to participate in the What's On Your Nightstand event over at 5 Minutes for Books in a few months. So I thought now would be the perfect time to share.

I just finished reading The Five Love Languages and Confessions of a Shopaholic. Two completely different books but I really enjoyed both. I learned a lot from The Five Love Languages and look forward to putting some of the principles I learned about into place.

This month I plan on reading the following:
1. Eclipse
2. Breaking Dawn
3. Vanishing Act
4. Girls in Peril

So what's on your nightstand? You can check out the other participants here.

Strawberry Picking

On Saturday we went strawberry picking at a farm about 2 miles from our house. This was the first time going strawberry picking for Sammy and I. He had a blast picking the strawberries. He put about 3/4 of them in the box and the other quarter in his belly :-P

First bite... so sweet!

These are good Mommy!

Some of the strawberries. Since it was early in the season it was easy for Sammy to tell which ones were good and which ones needed to ripen up more.

Waiting for the tractor to come back and get us :-)

One of the strawberry fields! It was so fun to go pick them ourselves :-)

Sammy posing with some of the strawberries... thinking about eating some more :-)

Tractor ride back to the main farm location to buy our strawberries. I think the tractor ride was his favorite part. That and watching the planes fly over and landing at the local airport.

Tot School - Week 7

Tot School
Sammy is 24 months

Since my work schedule has been a little bit chaotic these last few weeks I haven't been able to dedicate as much time to Tot School. However, Sammy has been really catching up on a lot of things. He is starting to recognize a few letters and is talking a good bit more. I am hoping after his surgery on Wednesday that he will be able to hear better. He is getting his ears drained and tubes put in. Here is a few things that I caught on "film" this week!

I helped him build this but he had a lot of fun spinning the little characters around and taking them on and off.

Sammy created all of this all on his own and he wanted me to take a picture of it :-)

Sammy did a few coloring sheets from a Kumon book I picked up for him at Target. He got to draw the hair on the person and he kept calling him Daddy ;-)

Sammy had a lot of fun moving cotton balls from a mixing bowl to a muffin tin. He used the salad tongs...
... metal tongs....

.. and the spoon from the salad tongs.
He did lots of swimming this week. He even loves the slide and doesn't mind the water splashing up on his face. He even learned to blow bubbles with a pipe.
We also went strawberry picking. Sammy had a lot of fun picking strawberries and learned quickly which ones were ripe and which were not.

You can check out more Tot School posts here.

Flashback to Childhood

This post is mostly for my parents! Hi Mom and Dad :-)! When I was around Sammy's age n it all started. My Dad was working on some project around the house. He left his Makita drill on the floor (don't worry it was unplugged). He left the room for a few minutes. When he came back his drill was in pieces on the floor. I apparently had taken it apart.

It was then my parents realized that they couldn't leave anything unattended with me. I liked to see how everything worked and wanted to take it apart and look inside of the device.

My Uncle Jay gave me this wonderful book called How Things Work. It showed the inside of some any things that I wasn't allowed to take apart. It told you how telephones, locks, computers, and many more things worked.

My Dad will claim from that day forward his Makita drill never worked the same. Some of you might be wondering why I am telling you this story. Enter Sammy:
This was from Saturday when we built the garden. Tim was getting everything together that he needed. I found Sammy playing with the drill and it was then I too realized that we have our hands full!

For the record, Tim took everything apart as a kid as well, but he took apart things that he was allowed to take apart. That is for another post!

I hope everyone has a wonderful long weekend :-)

So I thought I would share what is floating around in my head right now. The best way to do that is in list form.

1. I forgot to put the first step in yesterday's blog. The first step should have been to apply this:

Yes the spray can is SPF 85.. How else do you think I keep Sammy from burning this pasty skin?

2. I had a really upset stomach yesterday. My friend that is a physicians assistant things that I must be allergic to something in chicken nuggets.. Anyway I felt really bad all day yesterday and Tim surprised me with some beautiful flowers :-) Made my day!

3. Sammy's surgery is on the 27th. I have been filling out all of the paperwork and pre-registered him at the hospital. I have ordered ear plugs and got those in the mail yesterday.

4. I am excited for the long holiday weekend this weekend! We have some fun plans scheduled.. and we are super excited for a trip to the lake :-)

I will leave you this cute picture :-)
