Friend Makin Monday- 20 Questions

Amber over at aefilkins is hosting Friend Making Monday again.. and I had to join in.. so much fun!

1. Do you cook every night?

I guess that depends on how you define "cook." Every now and then we will eat out (about once a month) and every now and then Tim will bring a pizza home on his way. For the most part I cook most of the time. Tim likes to cook as well and gives me some days off.. so I really can't complain :-)

2. What kind of laundry detergent do you use & why?

All free and clear.. one of the only kind that doesn't make me itchy!

3. Do you do laundry every day or loads at a time?

I do laundry on Wednesday only.. I hate it.. so I can handle one day of doing it!

4. How often do you eat out per week?
hmm maybe once a week for lunch w/ just Sammy... then if we have a date night (we trade of baby sitting with some friends) we usually go out that night as well.

5. Where do you usually eat out?
chick-fil-a.. then on date nights.. we try and switch it up and go somewhere different each time :-)

6. What is your favorite retail store?
Target would certainly be my favorite as well!

7. What's your favorite thing to drink?
Mountain Dew!! So bad but is my favorite.. my BIL Greg and I call it the yellow nectar of life ;-)

8. Do you take vitamins? What kind?

No. I have had 10 (yes 10) kidney stones and was told I should NOT take vitamins so I wouldn't produce anymore.

9. What percentage of the household chores to you do?
hmmm I don't know.. we don't really keep track.. if it needs to get done we do it. A guess would be 50%.. thanks Tim!

10. Do your children do chores? {Or will they, did they, etc}
Not yet.. but he certainly will. We are currently working on cleaning up toys when he is done playing with them.

11. Do you go to church?

Yes, we both volunteer at the church so we are there almost every week.. Well except for the winter when Sammy gets sick from the nursery.. I'm hoping that changes now that he is in the "preschool" room.

12. Do you have a housework schedule?
No, but I need one! I need an insight into yours. I make lists, but I would like to have a system. - hehe Okay.. I am not even going to change what Amber wrote.. I totally could have written this!!!

13. Do you keep a working budget?
Not really.. we are trying to get better at that.. tips?

14. What do you do at night as a family?
We eat dinner together.. read stories to Sammy.. usually after he is in bed we do chores around the house and read together. We don't watch a whole lot of tv.. I tend to get sucked in and can waste so much time :-P

15. How do you prepare yourself for a new week?
I don't.. but I'm working on a plan.. I work on Monday mornings so I tend to get organized after I get done working.

16. What do your mornings look like?
Wow they are so different... on Mondays and Fridays I leave before Sammy gets up and work in the office. When I am home we get up have breakfast.. I surf blogs Sammy plays with some toys. Then we get ready for the day.. whatever we might be doing :-P

17. What time do you get up in the mornings?
Mondays and Friday's 6. All the other days 7. Sometimes I get to sleep in on the weekends :-) Thanks Tim!

18. What time do you go to bed at night?

No later than 11.. but usually around 10:30.. I like my sleep!

19. How do you manage all of the paperwork that floods into your household? {bills, school work, magazines, ads, etc}
Ours bills sits on the table or the buffet until I deal with it. Trash goes straight to the trash. We have a lot of things setup to be paperless so they come to my email account.

20. How do you keep your household organized? {calendars, charts, etc}
Currently I keep it in my head.. I am bad about caring a planner around.. I should use some of my phones features.. I will have to work on this!

Monday Miscellanea

Had a great weekend this weekend! Saturday we got a huge project completed that had been hanging over our heads for months! We celebrated with a thin mint blizzard and a tagalong blizzard yum!

Sammy's vocabulary is never ceasing to amazing me. Some of the words he says are adorable I never want him to pronounce them correctly.. but I know that in time he will. Some new words he has added recently:

-ow -side (outside)
-paw-per (paper)
-Grey (Greg)
-Babey (Bradley)
-moan (moon)
-bah boo (boo boo)
-warrer (water)
-meelk (milk)
-ooohhh my
-puuupule (this is what he calls blue)
-blue (color)
-grin (green)
-memo (is Nemo, Elmo, and email)
-cc (tv)
-Bob (vegetales or the radio)
-juice (juice)
-night night (a bed or sleeping)

That's all I can think of this early in the morning.

We leave on Saturday for the beach!! I am so excited for a little vacation time with the family!

Tim's brother Greg came over for dinner yesterday. Sammy usually sees him for a few minutes when he is over at his grandma's on Monday's. But not for very long. When Greg came over yesterday Sammy did not leave his side the whole time. He was either sitting on Greg's lap, holding his finger or getting him to play with him. It was so cute! This is the first time that Sammy has really "attached" to someone and it was super sweet!

I got the results back from my MRI on Friday night and was given a clean bill of health! The nurse left a message so I haven't received the full report but everything looked okay!! Whoohooo

I went to a local book fair yesterday and got some really great books and coloring books for Sammy. They actually had a good number of Christmas books with activities in them. I am now all excited to do some Christmas crafts with Sammy :-)

How was your weekend.. whats on your mind?

An Overhaul

I am sick of feeling behind on the housework. I am sick of feeling unorganized. I am sure that is contributing to being tired and feeling like I never have a break. Between working 25+ hours a week, taking care of Sammy and managing a household I'm tired and behind.

I am in need of an overhaul. Where I take a weekend and get caught up on everything! Is that even possible with a 2 year old? Or will I just fall back into the same pattern? This weekend I am committed to trying to get caught back up on life! I will let you know how it goes!

Preschool?

So I just had an great conversation with my sister about preschool/activities/etc. I now have a lot of planning to do for the fall! I didn't think Sammy was ready for preschool this fall. All of his sudden his language has been developing and his confidence growing. So now I am trying to get him involved in some activities with some other kids to help him develop these skills.

So my question is when did you send your kids to preschool? Or when are you going to be sending them? What other activities do you have your kids in?

What's On Your Nightstand - August

I can't believe its been another month. These montly carnivals totally put time into a better perspective. Last month I planned to read:
1. Angels and Demons - finished
2. A Tale of Two Cities - finished
3. The New Dare to Discipline - still reading
4. Just Do It - Taking a break we will probably go back to it
5. The Bible - reading through it in a year - missed a few days but staying on track for the most part

So my plan for this month:
1. The Host
2. The Time Traveler's Wife
3. Full House
4. The New Dare to Discipline
5. The Bible

We are going to the beach this next month so I will probably read a few more books than typical. For more What's on Your Nightstand check out 5 minutes for books.

Last few Summer Activities

Summer is drawing to a close but we still have a few summer activities planned. We still have our annual Myrtle Beach Trip. The fair is in town so hopefully we can make it over there tomorrow for a little while. Some more swimming will surely be in the plan.

We are having people over for a little cook out on Saturday. I just love summer so much I don't want it to end. I do however, look forward to the fall.

I wanted to share the picture because its to cute! Tim's mom was sitting on the floor and Nicia decided to sit with her. It was at that point Sammy ran over and sat down. I was quick enough to get this cute picture!

Debbie Downer

Sorry I have been such a downer lately! I "think" we are through our bumpy patch finally! It all ended with a trip to the doctor for the worst headache of my life. Two shots in the butt and a CT scan. Don't worry they didn't find anything wrong with my brain. Yes, they did find my brain ;-).

I woke up from a painful headache yesterday morning. It proceeded to get worse as the went along so into the doctor we had to go. Since it was the worst headache I had ever had they had to send me to get a CT scan to make sure there wasn't a mass, infection, aneurysm or something like that. The CT scan did show a shadow in my brain. I will have to get an MRI to check on that but its mostly likely from previous migraines.

The doctor called in a prescription for me at the pharmacy. The only problem is they wouldn't have it until 2pm today :( Luckily I had some medicine left from c-section/and post baby surgeries. So with some medical advice from a PA I was able to get some good rest and I'm feeling a good bit better today!

So now I am done being a downer :-P

Take a Tylenol and Call me in the Morning

Well whatever Sammy had hit Tim and I on Friday. It was awful! I am done whining (I think). Since both of the adults were sick we have created a few new rules in our house:

1. Both adults are no longer allowed to be sick at the same time
2. In case someone breaks rule number 1 we have a new baby sister name Olevia.. whats that she's a TV.. well desperate times call for desperate measures.
3. Mommy doesn't cook when she is sick go stock up on pre-made things!
4. Don't get sick the day you intend to go to the grocery store for 2 weeks.
5. The house is allowed to be a wreck when everyone is sick.

How was everyone's weekend? Any other rules you guys have in your house for when everyone is sick?

An update on Sammy.. he had a low grade fever again yesterday. They drew some blood to make sure it wasn't a bacterial infection and it isn't so that is good news. So hopefully his poor little body/throat can kick it soon!

Its that Time Again

What time is that you might wonder.. well non other than football season! I am brainwashing encouraging Sammy to become a Redskins fan. I started early:

Sammy at 20 months

Sammy last night.. yes I put him to bed with his jersey on :-)

A few weeks ago we went to a neighboring town's lawn party. We decided to take the wagon so Sammy had some space to play without being able to get out and get in the way :-)

We sat in front of these guys! Aren't they cute!

Sammy was comfortable and ready for the parade to start!

Waving at the fire trucks was one of Sammy's favorite activities! This one happens to be from our town.

Sammy is really starting to get over his bounce house fear. This was until some of the bigger kids got into it :-)

Sammy really had fun riding the carousel. Some of the other rides were still a little to big for him this year but he really had fun on this one :-)

Daddy got a ride also :-)

We did have an interesting experience at the parade. While we were waiting for the parade to start over walks over the sheriff. She (the sheriff) stopped and started talking to the lady next to us (about 10 feet away). It was like an episode of law and order. Are you so and so? Yes. I have a warrant for your arrest. So off they went and the lady got in the back of the cruiser. The whole time I wanted to say, "dun dunnn."

Dear Sammy

Dear Sammy,

For the past few days you have been very fussy. The mornings seemed okay however the afternoons were miserable. I had no idea what was wrong with you. On Friday you told Daddy that your ear hurt. However, later that day you said your toe had a boo boo so we wrote it off. Sorry for that mistake little man!

Yesterday you got up from your nap around 4. Mommy was busy cleaning out the fridge. You were pretty fussy but willing to sit and play with your toys. A few minutes before 5 we sat down to play on the computer. You climbed up in my lap. You were cuddly.. this is rare for you. You snuggled up your little head on my neck and you were HOT!! Like 103.4 fever HOT! You then told me ear ouch!

We made a call into the pediatrician's office and they set us up with walk in hours. The good news your ears looked perfect! The bad news you have a viral infection in your throat that we just have to wait out.

I am glad to report that even this morning my sweet Sammy is slowly returning. You still have a low grade fever but your attitude is much improved! Daddy and I are glad to know that you aren't just going through a fussy phase but your actually fussy for a reason :-P

Love,
Mommy

Great Bloggy Vacation

I had a great unplanned bloggy vacation. I was reading everyone's blog and being lazy and not writing. I realized how much I love writing on my blog and how much it helps me process the things in my life.

That said.. I'm back :-) We had a lot of fun this past weekend with Tim's family coming to the lake for the day. (I forgot my camera :( hopefully I will get some pictures soon). Then Sunday Nicia (Tim's 11 year old sister) and I went back to school clothes shopping and got some nice things :-) Don't worry Becca I took a picture of one of the outfits for you!

And what kind post would this be without a cute picture.. here you go :-)
