This or That? Tuesday

The Winey Mommy
My friend Chelle has a fun blog hop called This or That Tuesday. You simple pick which option you would rather do. Feel free to play along!

This week's question: Do you prefer to watch movies at home or at the theater?

I prefer to watch movies at home! Where I can wear my pjs eat cheap pop corn and pause the movie if I have to pee! That said I do enjoy going to the movie theater for a few movies. Basically if its a movie I really want to see and would be better on a big screen instead of my tv then I will go see it in the theater. However its been over a year since I went and saw anything there!

To see what others wrote for This or That? Tuesday check out Chelle's blog The Winey Mommy.

A little photo shoot

I had just finished getting Sammy's shoes on the other day. We were about to go out and play. I grabbed the camera and he asked me to take his picture. After each photo he wanted to see it and asked for more.

So without further ado some random pictures.. with not much for a background.. but the smile makes me post them!

The boy loves cameras. He has 3 play ones and is always caring them around telling things to say cheese. I say things because its usually a chair, truck or something else that can't really smile :-P

I'm pretty sure I could get lost in his eyes forever.. and I'm not sure whats with the lip in the mouth.. but he was all about it :-D

A Little Cousin Fun

Two weekends ago my sister, Clare and her family came to our house for a visit. My sister and I went to a local book fair and all of the guys stayed at our house and played. Clare and I hunted some great deals while the guys kept the boys entertained.

Bradley and Sammy checking something out, out front:

Uncle Chris showing Sammy how Bradley's flicker flashlight works:

This is a moment that will go down in history and we actually got a picture of it! Two very active boys laying still. They were pretending to sleep:

And the moment is over... Good thing we got a picture ;-)
Thanks for the fun day Clare, Chris and Bradley!

Willy Wonka Jr - Veruca Salt

On Saturday Tim and I had the pleasure of going to watch his little sister in her school play! Her school put on the Willy Wonka Jr. production and did an amazing job with it! I was very impressed with the production. They ran the whole show themselves. All of the kids running and acting in the production were middle school-aged kids!

There was no flash allowed and Tim and I will sitting about half way back. So Tim's sister Rachel took some photos for us!

Dancing w/ the candy man. Nicia is the one in the orange t-shirt:

Singing the song you can make the sun rise:

Nicia's man part was that of Veruca Salt (the snobby rich girl that goes down the bad nut sorter, red dress and white tights). Here are all of the golden ticket holders:

Singing her solo! She did AMAZING!!

More singing! All of the costumes and props were so well done as well. Check out the squirrels and the nuts!

Tim's mom created her dress for her from some things they bought at good will! We got a better picture of it later.
Singing with the umpa lumpas!
Nicia and us after the play! We brought her some flowers and she was totally excited about them :-). Check out the great job Tim's Mom did on the dress! Its hard to believe she was able to create it from the dress they got at Good Will. It had a zipper down the front and didn't have any of the buttons, cuffs, belt or collar.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

We had a beautiful day day. We spent a good bit of time outside soaking up some vitamin D. Here he is laughing about the shamrock on his shirt. Or as he calls the shamrock a tree ;-)

A real Sammy smile:

He is so grown up looking in this picture:

Tot School - L Week (week 2)

Tot School
Sammy is 34 months.

Sorry this is going to be a kinda lazy post. I promise to do better next week with the formatting of the post. However, for this week its this or nothing.. so I figured I would put up this :-)

We built a tower with the peg stacker. Mostly I constructed it and Sammy picked out what shapes to use next. He did put a fair number of pegs in where I pointed.

Next we dot stamped this page from making learning fun website.

L is for Lightning McQueen in this house. So we collected some Cars stickers we had and put them on a red L.

We used this grid also from making learning fun to play a counting game. We would roll our rubber die and count the dots then stamp off our pots of gold. The yellow stamper would have been perfect.. Sammy had other plans ;-)

Next I printed off a pot of "gold" from making learning fun website (notice a theme). I did the lower case letters to help recognize the lowercase letters quicker. I would call out a letter, Sammy would find it on his page and then stamp it with
the green stamper.

The finished product!

Since it was L week and also St. Patrick's day we figured we would do L is for leprechaun.

We made a shamrock out of cardboard egg carton. Sammy had a lot of painting this project and the table ;-)

We talked a little bit about Ireland this week as we celebarted St. Patrick's Day. We had fun creating a flag. I gave Sammy several strips of green and orange construction paper. He worked really hard cutting these strips for this project. But wasn't to interested in gluing them on. I helped him finish it up.

I love the Kumon workbooks! This week Sammy did these paste pages. I cut the animals off the page so Sammy could play with them after they had dried.

This week we also talked about Saint Patrick and what he did in Ireland. We watched a clip from veggietales about St. Patrick that Sammy thought was really funny!

Favorite books this week:
St. Patrick's Day in the Morning
Curious George gets a bike
Curious George and the Snow Day

Spring Reading Thing 2010 - The List

Yay its the first day of Spring!! This has been a super long winter and I am super glad for the warm weather to be here!

Katrina over at Callapidder Days is hosting her annual Spring Reading Thing and I am joining in on the fun! I have been in a little bit of a reading slump so I am hoping this will help me get back into reading more frequently :-)

So without further ado here is what I am planning on reading in book form:

Keeping Faith by Jodi Picoult

- I have loved everyone of her books that I have read. I have several on her books on my bookshelf. I want to start reading the ones that have been waiting.

Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom

I have read all of his other books so I can't wait to read into this one! I just got it in the mail the other day off my paperback swap wish list :-)

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

So this was on my Fall into Reading list.. I still haven't read it.. but I hope to get to it this Spring.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows

I got this book for Christmas and I can't wait to read it :-)

Watch Over Me by Christa Parrish

I won this book on Jolanthe's blog No Ordinary Moments and I have read the first chapter and I love this book!! Can't wait to sit down and read some more!

The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks

I love Nicholas Sparks' books so when I got this one for Christmas I just couldn't wait to read it. Then the reading slump hit.. so now I am hoping to dig into it :-)

Barefoot by Elin Hilderbrand

This is another book I have wanted for a while and got for Christmas. It sounds like a perfect Spring read :-)

The Time Travelor's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

I also have plans to finish up this book since I didn't finish it this past challenge.

Then I would also like to read two books on my nook. I haven't decided which ones for sure yet but I am thinking:

Dear John by Nicholas Sparks
-I need to borrow this one from my sister on the nook

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
I have started this one but haven't gotten into it yet.

Okay considering I have hardly read since the Fall this seems like quite an ambitious set of books! However, that is one of the benefits of Katrina's no pressure challenges. So feel free to join up and see what others are reading.

My Boys

I caught a rare "cuddle" moment of Sammy's. More like I caught a rare moment where he was sitting still (minus when he is eating):

Excuse the chaos in the background.. we were playing pretty hard :-)

Making the Ends Meet

The other day Chelle wrote a post about how she never learned who Jane Doe was until she was in high school. I know there are so many things you just learn because you ask questions and experience life.

There are so many idioms in the English language its hard to learn what all of them mean. I remember hearing the expression, "They are barely making ends meet." In my head I had it as meat instead of meet. So to me if someone is barely making ends meet it meant they were barely making some disgusting meatloaf type dish. They were so bad off they had to eat ends meat. No I didn't know what ends meat was but I assumed it was something more disgusting than meatloaf (since I didn't like it).

I remember being in college and my Mom said that expression and moved her hands up and down until the ends of her hands meet. It hit me like a ton of bricks!! Ends meat wasn't a meat dish at all!!

So there you have it one of those things I should have known yet since I never saw it written I didn't realize I had the meaning wrong for so many years!

Fun at Grandma's

*Warning Picture Heavy Post!*

Two Sundays ago we had the pleasure of hanging out at Tim's parents house. The weather was the beginning of the nice weather. We had a wonderful time running around and playing in their yard.

Chasing Aunt Nicia with a snow ball:
I love this photo. Throwing a snowball at Daddy. Daddy got a picture before he was hit :-P

Sammy is learning how to catch balls. So we practiced a little of that:

Finally got Nicia with a snowball:

Nicia and I played a little soccer:

Picking up some branches with Grandma:

Playing a little more soccer:

Playing soccer with Aunt Nicia:

Then the camera batteries died. We also went to the creek out back and threw rocks into it. I am pretty sure Sammy threw rocks for at least 30 minutes. This is from Tim's camera phone:
