Tiny Talk Tuesday–Bouncy

These were two different times.  Tim’s happened after he got a giggle out of me telling him what Sammy said about my tummy.  So I got an even better laugh out of the situation!

Sammy (age 3): Mommy your tummy is bouncy.

Sammy (age 3): Daddy your tummy is bouncy.

Sammy: I am hungry for pizza, chips, cookies, footballs and soccer balls.

Me: umm…

Sammy: No I cant eat soccer balls.  No I can’t eat footballs.

Me: How about a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and some apples.

Sammy: Yummy! I eat that!

We hung our Christmas lights up this weekend (we aren’t turning them on until after Thanksgiving).  Last year when we hung them it was freezing so we decided to jump on the awesome weather this weekend.

Sammy: Yay the lights are on.  Santa coming tonight while I sleeping.

This could be a long month!

Sammyisms:

ca conie E cheese – Macaroni and Cheese

stooooove – stool

duck your heeead (country boy accent) – duck your head

delicious – my new favorite word of his and he says it perfectly

Homemade Christmas – Some of Sammy’s Presents

This weekend I got my craft on! I made 2 of the homemade presents I wanted to make for Sammy for Christmas. Since he can’t read or open up my blog I will share them with you before Christmas :-P

First up a take along race track! Sammy loves cars and driving them on roads. So I whipped up this quick felt race track. I got the idea from here. I wanted to make it easy to take with us so here it is all rolled up I stole one of my new hair ties to hold it together and it worked perfectly:

DSCN4384

It is a pretty simple design and one of my first felt projects so it is far from perfect:

DSCN4385

This mat is pretty big so there should be plenty of room for playing and imagining. I am sure two people could play on it and not get in each others way: DSCN4387

The next thing I want to share is for the pretend/dress up box I am creating for Christmas. I have been collecting dress up clothes (mostly super cheap Halloween costumes after Halloween). I however hope to make a few things to add to the box. The first thing I created was this crown. I got the idea from here. DSCN4388 DSCN4391

Have you started your Christmas shopping or making? What are some things you are getting your kids? Any handmade dress up ideas for boys?

Its Finished!! – The New Deck

First off let me say a huge Thank You to my Dad for all of the blood, sweat, and time (No, tears right Dad?) into this project!  We most certainly could not have done this without your help!

Last weekend we were able to finish the deck railing and it turned out amazing!  Tim and my Dad worked on the railing in 36 degree weather.. to get this finished before it got even colder!

Since I know you already scrolled past the words to see the pictures.. I will go ahead an reveal the finished (not yet decorated) deck:DSCN4362

I love our backyard: DSCN4363

Sammy has been stress testing the railing already: DSCN4364  Out enjoying the new deck and fresh air yesterday:  DSCN4368

The stair railing was most certainly the hardest part!  We will be adding some sort of concrete landing to the bottom of the stairs:DSCN4370

The nitty gritty, we used trex deck boards for the top of the railing and trex 2X4s with aluminum balusters to create the railing system. DSCN4372 DSCN4373   Tipsy.. not quite as thrilled about the finished project since she can’t leap off of the deck at any point: DSCN4378

Preschool Corner – Letter I and Thanksgiving

preschool corner

We colored and assembled this Thanksgiving Song Book from My Delicious Ambiguity.  Sammy colored the apples and pumpkins.  I colored in the cornicopia since he wanted me to color with him :-)

DSCN4334

Sammy worked on writing the letter I with a pencil: DSCN4335

Sammy did this letter I cut and paste from ABC Twiggles, I won a membership from Counting Coconuts giveaway :-) DSCN4336

We laced beads.  Sammy likes to put them all of the beads on one string: DSCN4338

Almost finished: DSCN4339

Then Sammy stacked them up in order from 1 to 10: DSCN4340

The favorite activity this week was playdough.  We did this fall playdough mat from Tired, Need Sleep. DSCN4341

We made a Mommy out of playdough.  Sammy drew on the facial features and made all of those pieces of hair:DSCN4343

We did an alphabet match up from Confessions of a Homeschooler.  The printable had pictures on it Sammy figured out what letter they started with and put a letter sticker on top of it:DSCN4344

We made ice cream: DSCN4346

I think he liked it what do you think: DSCN4348

We have also been filling in the thankful tree.  I painted this on the back window with washable craft paint (on the inside) and each day the 3 of us all write down something we are thankful for and tape them on the tree: DSCN4360

Rachel’s Birthday Party

Tim is the oldest of 7 for those of you that didn’t know that.  So we are always celebrating someone’s birthday.  We don’t do anything super big just a dinner of their choice, presents and a yummy dessert of their choosing as well.  Last Friday we got to celebrate Rachel’s birthday over at his parents house.

The Simple Woman’s Daybook

FOR TODAY: 11/1o/10

Outside my window... the sun is just starting to shine on my newly finished deck.  The day looks like it will be a wonderful day to get out and enjoy the fall weather :-)

I am thinking... I need to make a to do list for today and get started before the day gets away from me!

I am thankful for... Thanksgiving and this season that helps me to slow down and be thankful for the big and small things.

From the learning rooms... we are learning about the letter I and practicing our counting.  We will also be doing some fun songs and a craft today :-)

From the kitchen... I am flying solo tonight since Tim is running sound at church.  So I might switch up what I am making for something quick and Sammy friendly!  I think we will also make some ice cream today.. since we are learning about the letter I.

I am wearing...  black stretch pants, a tank top, and my redskins snuggie.. don’t laugh..

I am creating... some Christmas presents that I can’t share about…. but they are going to be very neat :-)

I am going... nowhere!! Yay!  Today is a day for staying at home.  We ran around yesterday and we will tomorrow so today we will hang out at home.  (Well until Awana which is just down the street).

I am reading... Freedom on my Nook.  It is pretty good I just haven’t put much time into my reading lately!

I am hoping... to get a list of all the things I hope to get done for Christmas and see what is actually feasible.

I am hearing... Sammy playing cars on the train table and the dog snoring lightly behind me.

Around the house... I need to get caught up on laundry and do some other chores but for the most part not to bad!

One of my favorite things... is pumpkin spice coffee which I will be sipping shortly.

A few plans for the rest of the week: finish one of my homemade Christmas presents, drop off our Operation Christmas Child box, and reorganize the master bedroom closet.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

Tiny Talk Tuesday – Daddy Not Working!

Tim was singing the itsy bitsy spider and doing the motions on my head last week.  Sammy wanted a turn.  It was then I realized we might need to work on some of our songs

Sammy(age 3): Hickey Hickey spider tickle tickle spout.

*for the record I don’t think he knows what a hickey is :-P

Sammy (age 3): Wait I coffee

Me: Okay, but cover your mouth when you cough.

This weekend we worked on the railing of our deck.  The stairs were pretty tricky and my dad had to chisel out some spaces for the railing brackets to attach.  Tim was standing there waiting for him to finish that part so he could help him with the next step.  Sammy and I were inside eating lunch.

Sammy (age 3): Daddy not working right now Mommy!

I proceeded to crack up since he called Daddy out on not working :-P

Yesterday when we dropped Sammy off at his grandparents house for the day he noticed the neighbors chimney had smoke coming out of it.

Sammy: Look at the candle!
