Fall Fun

Earlier this month we went to a really fun pumpkin patch by our house.  My sister came over with her family and we had a blast checking out all of the fun activities.  Sammy had a lot of fun throwing the bean bags through the  cut outs:DSC_0634

My Rock Star

A few weeks ago our church had a concert with the band Future of Forestry.  Tim’s band opened for them and I got some fun pictures.  I will let the pictures speak for themselves Smile

Some Science Fun

So we did an experiment to see if water would make paper stick together. First we stacked two pieces of paper on top of each other. Then we picked up the top paper to see if they stuck together (they didn’t).

Next we got the top the wet and rubbed the water around:

Next we tried to pick up just the top paper again. But they stuck together. This has to do with water cohesion which I didn’t try and explain but just let Sammy have fun experimenting:

Next we did a physics lesson about how objects at rest will stay at rest. Obviously this is over Sammy’s head but he thought it was neat! I asked him what would happen to the penny if I flicked the card (see picture below). He said it would go flying. He was totally surprised when the penny dropped into the cup:

Sammy wanted to try it too but it was a little hard to flick the card straight out and not up:

Preschool Corner–Camping Theme

I am catching up on school posts.. so bear with me this is an old one!  We did a camping theme in September.. we hoped to cap of the theme with a trip camping.. we unfortunately got a ton of rain.. followed by some really busy weekends!   So with out further ado here are the things we got into that week;

Letter L with our Kumon workbook:

Beginning letter page:

Our goldfish page from All about Reading:

A graphing page.. (I helped finish color in the boxes so he wouldn’t get confused about which ones were colored)

DSC_0349

Pattern page.. this really clicked this time:

We matched up words with their pictures (with some help):

A number puzzle ( 11-20):

We had some fun experimenting with surface tension.  The paper boat was floating on the water.  When we dipped our kabob stick into dish soap then put it towards the back of the boat the boat shot across the water.  Sammy didn’t understand why but found it to be a lot of fun (all we are going for):

DSC_0355

He liked this so much we made several boats and experimented with wear to put the soap and what it did to the boat.  This one spun around in circles:

-Science experiment was from this one.
