I am want to learn more about my camera this year.  I figured a good way to work on that is to do project 365.  I hope to be able to notice a difference in the pictures I take from the beginning of the 2013 and the end of the year.  So for comparison sake.. here are a few pictures I took yesterday.  These are my first pictures not taken in fully automatic:

Droid Photo Dump

Things have been super busy around here.. but things are good!  I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!! I promise I will be around a little more consistently than I was this month!  I realized I haven’t pulled pictures off my phone since September!! So I was a little selective but here is my phone photo dump.

Sammy and his buddy Noelle riding the metro to the national zoo.  This was Sammy’s first time riding on the metro.. he loved it!

Tim’s Dad rode in this crazy thing!  It’s called a powered parachute.  There was a pilot and then he rode in the back.  This was his birthday gift from the family.

Sammy took this picture of Grandpa above the sun:

These were from teaching the 3 year olds at co-op.. aren’t they so cute:

2012-10-05_11-23-02_814 We bought some LED bulbs for our dinning room light and they were all suppose to be the same.. They were 3 different colors out of the 5 we purchased.. Tim and I were amazed!

This is a terrible picture.. but it is what I sent to my parents while they were in Hawaii and swimming in the ocean.  It was September I believe:

Sammy earned an ice cream from chick-fil-a for working hard in school:

This is what Sammy wore for pictures at co-op.. you will see later what the picture looked like…

Tim’s new ornament “Willie Wire-hands” from the electric cooperative.  His feet are actually an outlet:

Backyard fire pit night:

My office. that is a USB man in a noose hanging from the coat hook that looks like a man.. You might have to been there.. but I found it hilarious..

I seriously found this in my mailbox.. it wasn’t suppose to come to us.. we delivered it to its correct home since it was the craziest thing I have ever found in my mailbox!

Sammy’s co-op picture.. he apparently got hot and took off his sweater and did an awesomely cheesy classic school picture grin:

Hurricane Sandy starting to blow in.. we didn’t get hit hard but some of electric cooperative’s customers did:

Sammy made a clothes line during quite time and wanted to send Daddy a picture of it:

Playing dinosaur train trouble:

Tim’s sister does some dog rescuing. .here is her current rescue Daisy.. and she is so sweet and loved to snuggle.  Poor pup has had a tough life so far.. but hopefully much easier from here on out!  When Becca got her you could see all of her ribs, whole hip bone, and had mastitis that rupture something.. she is now much much healthier and very gentle.. and who doesn’t love a lap warmer:

O Christmas Tree

We went and cut down this pretty tree this weekend!  I need to get a picture of the tree all decorated.  We had to put our tree in a different spot this year since Sammy’s school desk is in front of the window where we usually put the tree.  It is taking some getting use to, but I think it looks pretty good :-)

Christmas School

We are still doing school this month.  It, however, will be light and lots of fun!  We will be keeping up with our math and reading but adding in lots of fun Christmas activates.  We will be using Truth in the Tinsel again this year to focus on the birth of Jesus.

I wanted some other school activities to focus on the story of Jesus this season.  That was when my friend Dawn released her preschool nativity pack!  She is selling her nativity pack for $1.  For each pack she sells she is donating $1 to Show Hope.  Show Hope cares for orphans  and helps to fun adoption grants.

Sammy is on the older side for these printables.  However, there are some wonderful pages in their for preschoolers and early Kindergarten.  Sammy had a lot of fun with the pages I printed for him.  He worked on some of the handwriting pages:

He had fun doing the roll and graph page but LOVED answering the questions about the graph results.  I didn’t get any pictures of that one.. mostly because he used the whole room to roll the die.

The starting letter page was a review page for him but he enjoyed it none the less:

Sammy loves do-a-dot pages and the star page did not disappoint.  We talked about how the wise men followed the star to find Jesus:

However, Sammy’s all time favorite thing in this pack was the rolling game.  The first person to cover up their donkey wins the game.  We played this game everyday for a week:

DSC_0160 We also built some nativity words with plastic letter tiles and then traced them.  This was a great time to review the nativity story.  So if you are looking for some meaningful and education activities for your kids this Christmas season check out Dawn’s Christmas Nativity preschool pack.

Mystery of History - Creation

So this post has been sitting around since the first week of school!  But I wanted to share it here on the blog.  For our creation study we created a booklet.  We kept the cover pretty simple:

On the inside we wrote the Genesis 1:1 verse.  Then we started on the days of creation.  We created this by adding a a piece of black construction paper to the bottom half of the day.

Here is what the pages looked like:

Then you open them up and you can see what God created on that day.  For day two we drew some clouds with a white crayon then went over them with light blue water colors.  For the water we used dark blue mark to depict water.

Day 3 we showed the dry land with a piece of green construction paper.  Then we made an apple tree with fingerprint apples to depict God creating trees:

Day 4 we colored a sun to depict day.  Then for the night we drew a moon and stars with crayons.  We then painted with black water colors on top.

For day 5 I drew a robin and Sammy colored it in.  Then I showed Sammy how to draw a basic fish and he colored that in:

Day 6 Sammy drew our family at the top to represent how God created man.  Then at the bottom he drew our dog Tipsy to represent how God created animals.

Day 7  I drew some Zs and Sammy colored them in.  This represented that God rested on the 7th day.
