Beyond Proud of Tim

I am sorry to have left you guys hanging! I had hoped to write this post earlier this week but this week is proving to be just as crazy as last week!

So the major life change.. is pretty amazing story.  But first I want to say how beyond proud of Tim I am and how excited for the future!  We are so thankful that in this current economy Tim got offered a new job! He took it and started last week (after putting in his two+ weeks).

Now before I go any further with that exciting news.. I have to say we were really sad to be leaving his old company.  Tim had been working for Blackwell for 15 years.  Everyone there was part of our family and we loved them dearly!  Tim will continue to do some IT work for them on the side and we are glad we aren’t completely saying goodbye!!

Tim is now working for an electric cooperative as an engineering technician.  He has been learning a TON in the week and half he has been there.  Tim will eventually be going back to school for an electrical engineering degree.  As soon as this fall (still working on the details of this)!

Tim applied for this position in the Fall of last year but they had a hiring freeze until recently.  The job has a very weird mix of skills that seem to be completely Tim from drafting, to electrical knowledge, to sound system, and to Linux knowledge.  It seems like the perfect fit for Tim!

Tim will be setting up and testing equipment before it is placed in the field.  He will also be troubleshooting electrical issues and helping with power management stuff.  All of it is far beyond my understanding but I am trying to learn some of it along side of Tim.

This job is certainly been a blessing for our family and we are excited to see how that unfolds over the next few months!  Congratulations Tim I am excited for you and I love seeing you challenged and learning! XOXO

So Much on my Mind

I have such a hard time blogging when life is busy.  I have no way of narrowing down the thoughts racing through my head into one nice pretty post.. (if they are ever really pretty).  My brain feels like a pot full of oil and popcorn kernels.  Things are popping up at a rapid speed and I am just trying to keep them inside the pot!

Everything is fine.. great in fact.. No need to worry! Smile Just very very very full! A good full but full none the less!

There are so so many things I hope to share on the blog.. I just need the time to actually sit and think and put them to words!  I want to share about the homeschool convention.. I want to share about a major life change that has been going on behind the scenes (sorry to leave you hanging but it totally deserves its own post (no our family is not growing in size))… I want to share about Sammy being at bug camp this week.. I want to share about our fun summer fun.. about our plans for next school year.. about our anniversary that slipped by without as much as a blog post about it.. about father’s day…. about the IT work Tim and I have been doing at night for a friend.. about life!! It is just so full and I am feeling slightly overwhelmed by the pace as of lately (good overwhelmed but overwhelmed none the less)!

So bloggy peeps what do you want to hear about first.. help me pick a topic and sit and write.. are you even still there..or have I scared you away with all of my …s and rambling crazy thoughts?

Samuel L. Collins Review and Giveaway

Last week I had the pleasure of going to the HEAV (Home Educators Association of Virginia) convention.  I will share more about that later.. but to say the least it was awesome!!
While I was there I had the pleasure of meeting the wonderful family behind the Samuel L. Collins DVD series.  They were seriously sweet and lots of fun to chat with.

I am always on the lookout for movies that will engage Sammy and teach him something!  That is just what the Samuel L. Collins movies do.  The something that he is learning is the best part!  He is learning the truths from the bible!
We had the pleasure of watching the Singapore movie about where your treasure is located.  Sammy loved looking for clues along with Samuel and Katie.  His favorite part was when he found one of the clues and could point it out to me!

Singapore Trailer from Samuel L. Collins on Vimeo.

The age range for these movies is from 5-12.  Sammy is 5, however, he had a tough time following the movie the first time through.  Tim and I watched it with him and explained things as the movie went on.  The second time he watched he certainly understood more of what was going on.
I loved the graphics and special effects all throughout the movie.  I also love that there are bible study lessons that go along with the movie on their website.
Sound like a movie you and your family would like? Enter the giveaway to win a copy below:
a Rafflecopter giveaway Disclosure:  I was provided with a free copy of the DVD  for the purpose of an honest review.  I did not receive any other compensation for this post.
