Pool Party

Last month we had some friends over for a pool party.  It was fun to see everyone swimming together and having so much fun in our backyard.  This little guy had a blast in the pool!  Even after he took a little swim:

Getting a picture of 4 kids 5 and under in a pool was challenging for sure:

Not too shabby:

Mark you are too cute and I couldn’t stop taking pictures of you:

You have such a contagious smile and sweet personality:

It’s Fun to Celebrate

Sammy painted a picture frame for his Aunt for her birthday.  She opened the present before he went to bed:

I am not sure what they were discussing but I loved their expressions in the picture:

Attempting a picture for the frame:

Happy Birthday Reatha!  We had a lot of fun celebrating with you:

The Mash Up

These are the pictures that didn’t make it to their own post.  Sammy painted a pot of gold and wrote out pot of gold but the only part you can make out of pot written from bottom to top on the left.
Painting is one of his favorites.. coloring not so much.. here was part of Tim’s father’s day gift:
This is Sammy’s drawing of Tim and Sammy (he wrote their names at the bottom.. he did this on his wrote and wrote Tim instead of Daddy Smile with tongue out)
Sammy was dead on some of these answers and way off on some.  I wrote the answers for him this year.
His name is Tim
He is 35 years old. (this was pretty close)
He weights 100 pounds.  (not so much.. some would say this is a compliment but to Sammy this is the biggest number ever)
He likes to eat spicy food. (right on)
He likes to drink coffee. (again right on)
He is so strong he could lift heavy stuff like church stuff.  (Our church sets up and tears down each week and Tim does a lot of lifting)
His favorite toy is a computer.  (pretty much)
When he goes to work he “works every the day.” (This is a Sammy expression to add the word ‘the’ for emphasis.  No Tim does not everyday)
He and I like to play with me.  Dominoes!! (they like to stack them up until they fall down)
He smiles when he is happy. (aww)
He loves me because I am special.  (seriously cute)
I love him because you are special too.  (not sure if he was talking about Tim or me)

We did some super fun IT work last month.  This was where we took care of the patient:
This is Jolanthe’s (Homeschool Creations) data server.  It had died a sad sad death.. but with some hard work (mostly from Tim) we got it back up and running.
Sammy’s desk for next year.  I will do a whole post about our school space soon!
I watched a friend’s dog while they were having a baby.  I turned her out back when some friends were leaving from a pool party (post coming soon).  When I turned back around this is where she was:

Photo Bomber

I have found the best way to take a picture of Sammy is to then let him take a goofy picture.  I took a ton of pictures at the Air and Space museum and here were all of the ones I didn’t share in yesterdays post.

So for each decent picture I got with him in it.. I had to take a picture of him being him.. here are the examples:

This one might be my favorite:

I am not sure what is up with the pose he is doing but he sure had fun doing it that day:

Okay this one isn’t silly.. well it is since it’s a bathroom but Sammy has been petrified of the hand dryers in bathrooms.. He was super brave and used them for the first time.. and I actually had my camera so I snapped a picture to share with Tim Winking smile

Anyone else's child love taking goofy pictures?

Udvar-Hazy Space Museum

Sammy and I did a day trip up to the  Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum in Dulles, VA.  We had the greatest time!!  I want to go again really soon and spend even more time there.  The museum is free and you just pay $15 for parking (to help pay off the building fund).  There was so much to see there I think we just scratched the surface.  The museum is located near Dulles Airport and is in the flight landing pattern.  They have this beautiful observation tower you can go up in (we didn’t do that the day we were there):
Sammy thought these were just like the ones at Target Winking smile
There are several sections of this museum some you can see from up high and the planes look like they are flying and others you can get really close down on the ground.  Hopefully I don’t bore you guys with too many pictures.  Sammy loved telling me which one was his favorite.. which changed several times during the trip.
Taking in the whole small plan wing from up top.  Since Tim couldn’t come this time we made sure to take a lot of pictures together so he could see what we did!
Flying upside down (this was hanging way above us):
Let me tell you a little tidbit about myself.. when I was a kid I wanted to be an pilot for the Navy.  This may or may not have to do with the sheer number of times my sister made me watch Top Gun Winking smile.  How cool would it have been to fly in some of these planes!
One of Sammy’s favorites because it lands on water and it was yellow:
I channeled some of my inner photographer skills.. what do you think:
Sammy’s favorite helicopter.. yes it was yellow too:
There were some really old helicopters there and it was cool to see how they have improved over the years.  I have seen this with the planes all growing up but hadn’t seen old helicopters before.
Look at this crazy Marine helicopter.. the only thing holding you on is a seat belt:
This museum is HUGE.. you could spend a whole day there!
This is the bottom of the Concord and a picture of the cockpit:
I am pretty sure Sammy wanted to take all of these home with him to play:
Anyone recognize this plane:
Next up we went to the space wing.. this completely blew me away and gave me chills.  This is one of the actual discovery space shuttles that want into space:
Talk about size comparison.. we had to back up a ton just to fit its wingspan into the shot:
Some of the other space gear.  Sammy thought it was really cool that all of the stuff had been in outer space.
He loved watching the videos about the different exhibit pieces:
This however was Sammy’s hands down favorite thing.  After looking at a few planes he would find one of these and want to see the view from the cockpit.  You can then click and swivel the view around all over the place to see where the pilot sat and what they could see:
Sammy’s souvenir from the day.. a biplane:
We went to the iMAX theater and watched a fighter pilot movie before we left.  It was truly an incredible day filled with so much learning and fun!  Leaving the museum:
